TURKEY

A turkey is a gallinaceous bird.

Domestic turkeys come from the American wild turkeys. They are the largest of gallinaceous family birds. The weight is 12-16 kg (males) and 7-9 kg (females).

Per year, turkeys lay about 90 eggs. They hatch for 28 days.

Turkeys were brought to Europe for the first time by the Spanish in 1511.
