PEACOCK

PEACOCK

Peacock is one of the largest and most magnificent birds of phasianidae family, originating from Southern India and Ceylon. Males have splendid tail feathers which they demonstrate to females during courtship. An adult peacock tail has over 200 feathers. Females are speckled, unobvious colour and less attractive.

Peacocks are omnivorous – they eat almost everything: insects, lizards, seeds, grains, soft crop roots.

Females begin to hatch at the age of three. They lay over 8 eggs per year.
